I’ve been super busy lately as I’ve stated before.
Was making another Falkor and had a custom hat to finish as well. Both are DONE!
So! In natural C3 fashion I’ve chosen to go full chaos on a top that I started and have taken a full ride on the crazy train into Lace!
I stumbled across Romanian Point Lace and honestly fell in love!
Now of course I never do anything the easy way and jumped head first into this new style with using thread 🫣
And maaannn was trying to make this cord an undertaking! Finding a pattern I liked was the next task. But I managed to get one found and the cord made!
Now when it came to pinning it to the design I did have to improvise quite a bit. I don’t have all the fun tools and supplies I see many using. I did however have the perfect sized lap pillow and so far it’s worked out beautifully! Hahaha.
I did oops a bit and kind of ignored the type of pins being used when I researched and used the ball tipped pins with the thought “these will be easier to removed and deal with”…WRONG CHOICE! There is 100% a reason that everyone uses the flat tipped pins. I found out real fast that while yes the other pins to the work in keeping the cord in place, they do not help at all when it comes to the actual act of lacing everything.
So enjoy my oops and the before/after of pinning it once, then having to repin it a second time hahahaha.
Then it was onto the fun part! Trying to figure out how to lace!
I learned very quickly that while it seemed “easy enough” it definitely has some skill to it.
It also…shocker…TAKES FOREVER!!
That little bit I finished on the bottom right in the photo took me almost 3HOURS! Yes you read that correct…THREE!
I will say though, while it is very time consuming it is actually quite relaxing. For now I’m sticking with the most basic way I found to make the lace.
As I learn more, maybe even with this piece, I’ll branch out and try some more intricate ways.
But for now, enjoy looking at my 5 hours of work for just this one section 😅
She might cause me some insanity by the end of this, but dang do I know she’s going to look incredible while it happens!
