• Getting Close!!

Just finished up the final edits for my Mystic the Unicorn pattern!! I know I’m excited, but are YOU?!

Still currently in testing and full launch will be happening once I fully return from vacation! Launch Day is Sept. 1st 2025!

Some *IMPORTANT* things to know about this pattern if you’ve missed previous announcements…

My hoof addon’s are REQUIRED to make this pattern as you see above!! Now you don’t technically need the rest, however I highly recommend getting the Addon Bundle that will be available on Etsy at launch.

The bundle includes everything you see here. Hinges (in white), Hooves, a Horn, and a pair of 24mm Eyes in a matching color of your choice.

The pattern can be completed without the use of the hinges, and if you have different eyes on hand that’s fine too! BUT there are NO instructions within the pattern for a crocheted horn, and ZERO way of making the legs without the hooves. So if you don’t want to use the horn add on that’s alright, just know you’ll need to figure out a different horn yourself. Same goes for the hooves.

Not everyone may agree with the fact some addon’s are a requirement…And I’m ok with that. It just means my pattern and style isn’t for them. For those that DO move forward and want to recreate this pattern, there will be an automatic discount applied for anyone that does purchase the pattern WITH the addon bundle TOGETHER, making the pattern itself basically free.

I am incredibly excited for the release of this pattern and I really hope many jump on the bandwagon of my very out of the box style. I’m excited to be raising the bar and giving a new option and way to take your crochet to new heights! Mixing mediums is the way to be ❤️

  • Why The Cost..?

It’s a discussion I see constantly. One that unfortunately tends to get toxic and starts arguments. Though I never really see anyone actually break it down for people.

Honestly, I’ve even been questioned about my own prices more than once. Told anywhere from “you need to charge more/your worth” to “that’s too high, nobody will pay that!”

As a visual person myself, sometimes I need things pieced apart to understand better. So allow me to break it down for you as best I can, using my current make as an example.

Going forward, anything “hourly” is based on my locations minimum hourly tip wage, and not full regular minimum wage.

*Full simplified breakdown at the end.

Yarn. Obviously makes up a lot of the cost when it comes to crochet items. But most don’t realize that just because it’s yarn, does NOT mean that it’s cheap. The solid black cake above I made myself, using 4 individual strands of thread. Each thread being approx. 450yds each. One 4oz/2,100yd cone of that thread costs $18. It takes me about an hour to wind a full cake myself which is $5.99 for my state. The multicolor cake pictured is a Cotton King-Sultan from Hobbii and costs $21.

So at this point in JUST YARN we’re already at $45. Again, that’s just the yarn to even make the item.

Now let’s get into actually making said item. Most things are made by following a pattern, like I did originally start with. And you guessed it, patterns also cost money! The pattern I chose to use For the top alone cost $10.

Now while I did have a pattern, I also had to make SEVERAL changes/modifications to it, which adds to the amount of time to make the top. With that said, it took me roughly 6-8hrs (I unfortunately didn’t actually time it) to finish just the top. I’ll meet in the middle and say 7hrs for math purposes. That’s $5.99x7hrs= $41.93. I like solid numbers so we’ll round up to $42. Add the cost of the pattern and we’re at $52 for just the top.

With the top finished, we then move onto the skirt. Like the top, I decided to use a different pattern for making the skirt. This pattern also cost $10.

I am still in the middle of making the skirt, but I DID actually time myself and how long it takes me to do just one round/row of the skirt. It takes me 25min to complete just one singular go around. Currently I have 15 finished rounds/rows. 15x25min=375 mins/6hr15min of time I’ve currently put into the skirt. That math’s out to $5.99x6hr15min=$37.43 for where I’m currently at with the skirt.

Now the cake I’m using for the skirt is 7oz/874yds to begin with. So far I’ve only used 3oz/372yds, leaving me with 4oz/502yds to keep going. If I use the math above and knowing I have enough yarn to make at least another 15 rounds/rows, and knowing how long that takes. That adds another $37.43 to finish the skirt. I will still have another 1oz/124yds left, which isn’t much so we will leave that out of the math for now. Adding everything together for a rough estimate, the skirt being 30 rounds/rows at 25min per round, that’s 30x25min=750min/12hr30min. Making $5.99x12hr30min=$74.87, round to $75. Add the pattern for $10. We get a rough cost of $85 for just the skirt. Making the ENTIRE finished piece added cost together to = $182.

Now I’ve had MANY people argue with me in that I should be charging regular minimum wage and not the minimum tipped wage. So just for sake of argument, regular minimum wage for my location is currently $12.48 hourly. Redoing my math, using a regular minimum wage this dress would cost $316.

As a seller I would much rather charge the $182 for something I made simply because I chose to make it, knowing that it is much more affordable for many versus the $316. HOWEVER, if it was something someone requested custom that I had zero plans to make before on my own, I would be more inclined to charge the $316 as it does take away from my time and isn’t something I would make myself if it wasn’t directly requested.

I do NOT agree with charging outrageous prices on items you chose to make yourself unrequested.

    Simplified Breakdown

    Bralette Pattern$10
    Skirt Pattern$10
    Total Yarn Cost$39
    Minimum Tipped Wage=$5.99Regular Minimum Wage=$12.48
    Yarn Winding=1hr=$5.99round^=$6=$12.48round^=$13
    Making Top=7hr=$41.93round^=$42=$87.36round^=$88
    Making Skirt=Approx. 12hr30min=$74.87round^=$75=$156
    Total Work Time=20hr30min=122.79round^=$123=$255.84round^=$256
    Grand TotalGrand Total
    Grand Total=$182=$316

*The way I do my pricing does not work for everything nor will it work for everyone. As many of us crochet at many different levels and pacing. As a rather quick crocheter, I’m more than comfortable with this breakdown.

I will happily answer any questions you may have!

  • Never After Series…

Before I read Crossed, I did read the other books in the series that came before it and LOVED them!

Hooked will forever be a top tier read for me!

So I was excited going into Crossed, after enjoying the others so much…Until I started it 🫣

This book was almost DNF’d. I struggled HARD and legit forced myself to finish it hoping it would get better… It didn’t.

The whole thing just felt weird and didn’t really make sense. The plot twist was OBVIOUS, like so obvious it made me angry. The romance just felt weird, and the MMC was just not it for me.

Now this “technically” is labeled as not a retelling…It is very much a retelling for Hunchback of Notre dam. Which I’m sure doesn’t quite help my feelings, as honestly even as an adult. The Disney movie still creeps me out. It’s a ⭐⭐⭐ from me…

Now Hexed on the other hand…

    Absolutely FANTASTIC!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me all the way!

Now if you’ve known me for any length of time, The Little Mermaid is quite literally my addiction. So this book being the “not” retelling of The Little Mermaid just adds to my love for it.

Top tier FMC and MMC. The story was amazing. The spice was spicing and didn’t feel out of place.

Not once did I get bored, or put off by this book. I was definitely left completely satisfied, but also wishing there was more haha.

Highly recommend this book, and all the others in the series. MINUS Crossed, just skip that one completely..

  • Gothikana

My first read of the year was this book. I saw a TON of book recs for this one and decided to jump on the band wagon.

And mmmmaaaaaaannnnn was I glad I did!

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I love me a academia themed book, and the gothic vibe it had just added to my love for it.

It was a bit of a slow burn in my opinion, but it was done very well and I never got bored.

I do feel like there were some plot holes, and that the ending was a bit meh and the basic happy ending that most books seem to have lately.

All in all was still a great read in my opinion, and I’d give it a solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • My New Digs!

Finally got around to getting my second table set up and everything is now situated and in its proper place!

It may not be the most glorious space, but it’s MINE!

I do still plan to update/upgrade over time, but for now this will do.

If you could create your own “perfect” space, what would you do with it?

  • Sundays are my Monday

And it certainly is feeling like a Monday for sure!

Working on updating, rearranging, adding things to the Etsy shop.
*still currently only STL files for now!*

Got the printer going with some fun new Add on’s I’ve had on the back burner. So new patterns you’ve been wanting hopefully coming soon!

I’m currently in the process of getting all my Pokemon eyes in order and listed! I’ve also decided it’s better to list them all individually, as it’ll be much easier to see what characters I have available. There are a couple I’ve done that I do not plan to list, as unfortunately I did them in a way it’ll be very hard to make them work across different printers.

Also “coming back” and being added to the shop are my monster eyes. Both the tri-colored and the basic black & white.

So please bare with me and don’t hate me for any notifications Etsy sends while to work on all these updates!!

Trying to get everything done and mostly set up now before I leave again for my REAL vacation of the summer.

Not following on Etsy to see the updates? Check out the shop here! and be sure to Favorite it so you don’t miss anything else!❤️

  • Side by Side…

Left in green is how the pattern I used for this top looks as followed exactly.

The right in black is my personally modified version using really only the pineapple and puffs from the original pattern.

Construction is different enough I was able to get much better coverage as well.

Again the original pattern is on top, and my modified version is on bottom.

I MUCH prefer my version if I’m being honest. It’s easier to adjust for any number of different sizes.

I’m debating on writing up my modifications and making them available here for others to use.

And before you come at me…NO! I won’t charge anything for the modifications, and YES I can share them as a whole separate pattern if I really wanted to as I changed so much it is very clearly not the same anymore. And I’ve given plenty of credit to the original creator.

Now for my next trick… I will be continuing to modify the top and actually make it into a fully crocheted dress.

Beginning the skirt process with this very pretty Cotton Kings cake!

  • Frogging…Always Froggin 🐸

This is now the THIRD time I’ve had to frog the cup/bralette part of this top to get the sizing correct 🤦‍♀️

And it’s 100% due to my own laziness for lack of a better word 😖 Always, ALWAYS! When crocheting a wearable, measure, measure, MEASURE!!! Just holding it to you (if for yourself) is NOT enough! Don’t be like me 🙃

Much like the saying goes for sewing, “Measure twice, cut once.” Same for crochet except it’s more like, measure 3, 4, 5+ times, and crochet once 🤣

Now while I do like the design of this top as a whole, and would still recommend it. As I’ve mentioned before, it definitely takes a good bit of modifying to get the sizing correct. When I’m done with this top, I do plan to share what/where/how I did my modifications to be easier and more size inclusive for others.

Pattern I’m following is the Fruit of my Labor/100th Bralette from CozyCreativeCrochets
