The top has been completed!! While it is cute…If I were to make this again there’s quite a few changes I would make to the pattern.
For starters, I did have to make adjustments to the main “bralette” aspect. The pattern itself was WAY off with it’s sizing.
I’m normally a M/L size in the bust when it comes to this and ended up following the XL sizing in the pattern, and even doing that it still didn’t cover a thing 😅

To adjust for the sizing being off, and without having to start completely over. I wound up adding 5 rows around the bottom. Sc, Hdc, Dc, Hdc, Sc, in that order.
I then also needed to extend the top upwards, and ended up adding another 12 rows of Sc, while decreasing one side only to keep the general shape but add more top coverage.
Also added length for the neck ties.
As mentioned before, I did also extend the bottom “braid/rope” on both sides to be long enough to connect in the back without the need for tying them together.
This, I did also for attaching a skirt later, but that’s just my chaos and nothing against the pattern itself.

After a crazy busy weekend, I’m happily enjoying a mostly quiet day working on this top!

Here’s how the day has gone!
This pattern is honestly really really simple! Only downfall is it has a LOT of what is another of my most despised stitches 🙃
I’m not a huge fan of Puff stitches, but for this, I know it’ll be worth it!
By this point I did go ahead and make a slight change to the pattern the way it’s written.
I decided to extend both sides of the “braided” area for the waist to reach all the way around and connected them for what will be the back.
I wanted this part to be one piece and have a nice drape across my lower back as I do plan to make this a dress as well.

This is where we’re currently at! And yep…I’m still extremely excited to see how this ends up! But lets be honest, I’m ALWAYS excited to see how my chaos turns out 🤪
If I’m lucky, I’ll have the remainder of the bralette finished sometime this evening!

Taking a leap of faith with a new design I’ve never done. I can’t help it! LOVE me some gorgeous Pineapple stitchwork ❤️
This yarn and I aren’t very friendly…But this green is literally everything! She’s going to be absolutely stunning when finished.
And yes, the plan for this will also be a full dress in the end…Though we all know, my “plans” tend to change a lot 🙃
“Office” work has been put on hold for the day..
The other dress is currently in timeout also, however it is nearly finished! Updates on that soon…ish
I’m off to go enjoy the reminder of the day with my hook & yarn, while I enjoy time with my family and this gorgeous gorgeous weather!

If you’ve known me for any amount of time, you know that staying organized is nooooot really a huge skill of mine 😅
And when my office was moved to the basement all forms of organization was completely thrown out the window…
This brings us to last nights progress >>

<< and to where we’re at currently. I am THRILLED with how it’s all coming together.
It might not look “pretty” but I’m working with what I’ve got available and I’m happy with the outcome!
Final look hopefully soon! ❤️

After a full day (one and off cause mom life) this is how my mess currently looks.
Still quite a bit left to do. Unfortunately a good most of my yarn will be staying in totes, cause well basement. And after my sisters recent unfortunate debacle, I’m not risking it!

I still need to roll up all my fabrics so they’re better seen on the fly and organized.
I did also feel comfortable enough to leave out the Big Twist I got from Joann’s closing. It’s not a ton, but at least it still looks pretty and I feel more put together.
If I’m lucky, I SHOULD hopefully be able to finished cleaning up and organizing the remainder of my chaos today! 🤞

As amazing as it would be… Not all of us have that beautiful back drop full with cubes stuffed full of yarn. I did once, but my daughter wanted her bedroom back 🙃 One day I’ll have a space again, but for now this is what I’m working with.
I’ve been meaning and needing to go through my trove but just looking at it honestly overwhelms me almost immediately… And clearly things have gotten REALLY out of hand.
So this, this has been, my day. How’s yours going..?
With the words of wisdom from my husband, “just pick a spot and start there.” I have started the very VERY slow process of getting organized. Or well as organized as I can be given the limited space.
Wish me luck, patience, and maybe send a map 🤷♀️

With previous skirts, I’ve done this the extremely time consuming hard way 🫣 Well not anymore!!

I may not have the best setup for cutting fabric…Well being honest I have no real setup at all. So cutting my skirts has been a bit of a headache and why I really haven’t made a new dress in a while like this.
Well after perusing the TubeYou 😏 for tips/tricks on how to do something else. Cause YES! I AM LEARNING, cause also yes…I totally make up 80% of what I’m doing on the fly 🤪
Annnnyways! After watching a few videos on YouTube for proper ways to do a waistband. I decided out with being complicated and measuring everything EVERY SINGLE TIME, for literally EVERY SINGLE PIECE and in with making my own dang stencils!
Now instead of losing my mind, I can just simply pin down my stencil to my fabric and cut! Easy Peasy! Now I just need a better pair of scissors,, as mine have been used for everything BUT fabric 😅

I have a vision…Let’s see if it plays out!

So I’ve got the top finished! …shameless plug… Pattern from Spirit+Thread Crochet – Willow Top Pattern.
Now to just add my C3 Chaos Spin to it even more (I changed how I did my straps compared to the pattern already) and make what I hope to be the most perfect matching Skirt!
