• Fire in the Hole!

Really, but not really… Just the dumpster is on fire!

Holding nothing back and just diving in and working on several things at once 🤷‍♀️

    Remember…It’s always chaos here!

So on top of making a new dress, and working on the pokeball pattern, I’m working on also getting the pattern written for my dumpster fire!

By this point, if you’ve been following long enough…You should expect yet again to need my addon for the top/lid in order to complete the pattern as I do it.

I did also redesign a set of my OG designed eyes, to be sewn on instead of having a post.

Basically a button style vs the safety eye version. This way you won’t need to risk the post causing any issue or getting in the way and you still get the cute look with the eyes!

  • It’s A Process..

Everyone that crochets or does other yarn art always in some form says “trust the process.” It’s a rule I pretty much live by haha.

And this make is no different! While it is super simple to crochet, the top and bottom are literally the same… Totally beginner friendly as far as making the pieces.

It’s the rest that takes a bit more time and patience! Now technically you don’t hAvE to do this part, but I like having a stiff shell for the pokeball. Makes is nice and sturdy.

There are several different ways you can go about doing this. Starching, modge podge, glue, other ways I’m not thinking of..

I personally use the Water/Glue mixture route. I use a 1:1 ratio of glue to water mixed well and then just submerge my pieces (one at a time) with a good couple squeezes to be sure they’re well saturated. Then squeeze out any excess so it’s not dripped everywhere.

After that, place each piece on a good size rounded object. I personally use the large plastic Christmas bulbs from Dollar Tree. They are literally the perfect size. But anything similar should work.

This is where patience comes in, cause now you have to wait until it’s dry. Depending on how you went about this, dry time will vary I’m sure. Mine with the glue/water mixture, I usually let sit for at LEAST 24 hours before I attempt to sew onto the hinge.

    So currently…I’m stuck waiting 😅

Would you want the pattern if I decided to release it??

I don’t crochet much, but sister does. Recently she made hot dog she is planning to use for a dirty Santa. She might like this. We aren’t exactly Pokémon gamers so she might not. But is such a cool idea! If you release the pattern, I will probably show it to her.

  • I Choose You!

    The time has finally come!

With vacation closing in…It’s time to really kick it into gear and knock out this much awaited pattern.

This will be another pattern that will require my printed addon’s. But lets be honest, that’s the best part of this one!

Not only does this addon give a real look to the pokeball…IT’S ALSO OPENS!

This is a true “working” pokeball. Meaning it locks shut, has a button that actually works, and opens fully to stuff with whatever your heart desires!

I’m honestly super excited to finally get this pattern written up and ready for everyone! I feel like this could be a real game changer for those that crochet little keychain sized Pokemon! Honestly if all goes well, I’m temped to see just how big I can print these pieces and what I can get to fit inside!

  • Yarn Chicken Win!

Officially out of the hand dyed yarn! But I am IN LOVE with how this is going and can NOT wait to see this finished!!

Will be finishing off the skirt with the solid black. I’m planning to attempt to add some pineapple stitches to the bottom to bring it down into the skirt to match the top.

This skirt has been a lot of work, but also not. It’s been time consuming for sure though!

We’re slowing closing in on the time is took me to make the skirt for the previous dress. I’m fully expecting to bypass the time it took for that one.

Best guess, I’m leaning towards this taking closer to 26 hours to finish. We shall see!!

Still really hoping I can finish this beauty in time to wear during vacation!! Wish me luck!

  • Skirt Update!

Sooooo… With how I’ve decided to make the skirt, my hand-dyed yarn isn’t going to go quite as far as I had hoped.

Luckily! I still have enough 🤞of the black yarn I’m using to make up for it!

Here’s where I’m at so far. And honestly the way it’s bunching/ruffling I am SO excited to see this finished!

Current time put into the skirt.. It’s definitely taking longer this time to go all the way around for each row/round.

    Truuuuuust the process! haha

Fingers crossed I finish before vacation, I really REALLY want to be able to wear this out and about while on Vaca!

  • Skirt Time!

I’ve begun working on the skirt! Annnnnd I’m totally winging it 🫣 Should be fun!

I like how the skirt of the previous dress looked BUT it didn’t quite have the twirl effect I was going for.. Which was totally on me for not increasing enough.

This time around I decided to do something different and I’m pretty much just making it up as I go!

I figured this time around I may as well continue with timing myself. I restarted the timer and this is how long it’s taken me to get this far on the skirt alone…

More stitches, means even more time to go around for a single round/row of the skirt.

Which also means…I’m using much more yarn. I feel a big game of yarn chicken in my future to get this skirt to be a decent length. Wish me luck!

  • K-Pop Takeover!

So I don’t know about you…But K-Pop Demon Hunters has totally taken over my household and has a solid grip on me right now! Hahaha! I’m sure it’s taken over many of your social feeds just as much as it has mine.

It’s crazy how a KIDS MOVIE has brought all of us Parents/Adults together! We’ve totally hijacked this movie from the kids, and I’m not in the least upset about it!

Here’s the thing… I’m completely addicted! Literally 100% LOVE IT!

Because of that, my creative intrusive thoughts are leading me to the MASSIVE want to make/crochet these two!

With printed eyes, and fangs! Might even figure out how to do some whiskers…and of course the little hat!

Am I being a little crazy? Should I try and do this..? Do you think I could pull it off 🫣

  • Perfected!

I wasn’t 100% sold on how the top looked after my first attempt at modifying it my way. The straight rows just didn’t really give any kind of structure or shape in the bust.

Really, it was fitting like a crocheted sports bra with ZERO curve and just smooshed everything flat. Wasn’t really giving the look I wanted.

Though, this also could’ve been due to the fact I am not part of the IBTC and my tops need a bit more to them. So it was back to the beginning!

I am debating on selling the other dress..?

This time I DID actually manage to remember to time how long it took me to do the top. And I was happily surprised that I was pretty spot on with my timing of the top for the previous dress!

    Now onto the skirt!

I decided to dig into my Yarncives (see what I did there 😏) and pull out this gorgeous set I’ve had sitting around for literally YEARS since I never really knew what I wanted to do with it.

From one crocheter to another, I don’t care what anyone else says… A yarn winder AND a swift are two NECESSARY tools every person in the yarn art community should own! Do I use them all the time? Honestly, no. BUT having them on hand for times just like today is amazing.

Having a swift alone has been amazing. No more knots, and tangles trying to unravel a hank into something I can actually work from. The winder, well I honestly have a few 🫣 and will never ever go back to winding yarn by hand again.

  • My Version…1.0

She’s finished!! And I do totally love it…BUT!

I’m still not 100% sold on how the top sits. It is very “sports bra” like and really just squishes the “ladies” and has no real shape…

So back to the drawing board. I have in my head how I’m planning to do the top now and I’m pretty excited!

After this next attempt nothing will be the same as far as overall construction and instructions from the original pattern I was inspired by.

Once I get down what I have in my head, I’m debating on actually making a releasable pattern.

Yes I will still always give credit where credit is due, and where the inspiration came from. But after this, inspo is all it is, so don’t try and come for me!

There is NOTHING wrong with finding inspiration from others work and TRULY making it your own. And I mean more than just a couple little changes. I will LIVE on that hill!

Time to go pull my Pinnacle Passion Top out of the archives for some direction on this top! Wish me Luck!

I have already picked colors for my next attempt, but what colors would YOU like to see for a dress?

Let me know in the comments!
